I'm sorry!

I've been just awful about updating this thing, but I'm pretty sure no one reads it anyway but, well just in case.

I have started a new project though, a Doctor Who scarf. One of the Livejournal communities is doing a knit along and so I've joined. The scarf is coming along nicely I'll put some pictures and a progress bar up soon, after I do some of my homework.

actually I should be good and do my work now and then blog, so I promise, once I get all my note cards written out I'll come back and do a proper update.

Until then-

Ok I'm back I'm actually going to cheat and just add what I wrote on LJ:

I feel like I don't ever stop moving, I've actually had a few days lately where I've come home from class and gone straight to bed!

But anyway, most of the stress is coming from class, well really only two classes: Math and Telecomm I. Math is just math. Telecomm is just one of those classes that the professor delights in making the tests impossible to do. My other classes are not to bad (although one of them is the most pointless thing ever!)

I've found a very nice knitting group that meets at my local library, they are mostly kids who are just learning how to knit and crochet and some adults too, it's nice to be one of the advanced knitters for once and I enjoy helping them learn. The adults have all seen doctor who (at least classic who) so they at least knew what my scarf was from. It was funny though I think the kids misunderstood They tell people that I'm making the scarf for Doctor Who. When I showed them a picture of Tom Baker, one of them said Is that who you are making it for? So cute!

Speaking of the Doctor my mom is now offically where my geekness comes from. I mentioned before that we are doing a Sherlock Holmes theme for Halloween, well one day she asked me if the Doctor ever met Sherlock Holmes, I told her kinda and she said " We should make a TARDIS and put in on the other side of the driveway and we can make ait a running theme each year." I love my mother! We've been trying to find a refregerator box to make it out of but no luck yet. We did find some scrap wood that i think we are going to use unless something else is found soon. Luthienpotter will be visiting for Halloween so hopefully we'll have pictures since she has a digital camera. Mom will be Holmes, I'll be Watson, Scott's a Policeman and Luthienpotter will be Irene Adler (or at least a women in period dress) Squee!

Is anyone else watching the Sarah Jane Adventures? This past episode was creepy but great I'm not to sure about the new girl though she seems like she's trying to hard, hopefully she'll get better as the episodes go on, Clyde was like that too at first and now he's one of the strongest actors. Lis of course is just made of awesome. If you want to watch series two someone has been putting them up on youtube they are labeled SJA but you can find them if you type in "Sarah Jane Adventures" and change the search to "today" or "this week" . You can pretty much figure out what's going on without having seen the episodes although I recommend see them anyway just because they are very good!

Ok that's all for me for now, I'm off to bed

Hiya people

Wow it's been a long time since I posted! Too long really. But just a quick update I've finished my partners bag for the Twilight Swap and I have most of her goodies, just a few more that I've got to get tonight, and two I have to replace because Bernard thought it would be fun to claw them to death. Cats! The Bag didn't come out like I had hoped it would, but it didn't come out badly either. I just had to improvise a bit on one part. It's drying now and will go in the mail tomorrow morning. I just hope I have enough goodies, I want her to have an awesome package, but now that I'm seeing some of the others kits I'm thinking "Oh I should have done that! What a cool idea!" Oh well hopefully she'll like it. Well I'll update more later, I've got to clean my desk up, it's driving me crazy!

Laters!

Wow I don’t think I quite realized how close Dragon Con was until I saw

[info]belluthien’s flight plans. I’ve got lots of work to do if I want to have stuff to wear. My mother has twice this week shown her coolness in the costume department. Most mothers would freak out if there daughters where once again planning on dressing up in male costumes. When I told mom my plans for my Carlisle costume and how I had been looking for a wig but could not find one I liked and that I thought of trying spray on color (this is for the Twilight book release) she runs downstairs and unearths a wig that will work that she had from a few Halloweens ago. And then asks if she can do the vampire make-up :)

She is also helping me start a diet (and doing it with me) to help me slim into a few of my costumes and to help motivate me make the new ones. She also said she’d help me figure out a budget so that I don’t feel horribly guilty spending money on fabric and costumes. I love her, it so nice to have support for the odd things I do.

That being said I know I’ll make the Spellbinder Costume, which will only take a day or two. I’ll also work on polishing Young Snape I need a new sweater for it and I need to order a patch. This time I will remember to bring my Potions for Dummies book :) those are for sure. Then of course I have the ones from years past. I may try to get in a simplified version of Baldwin’s white robes; it just depends on money and time. I may also bring Carlisle depending on his reception at the release. I’m kind of looking forward to the time crunch, I always get more done.

I’m looking forward to seeing my con friends!

I should never be blond

Hello world,

Not much new going on with me I've had yesterday and today off so it's been nice, mostly I cleaned yesterday and today will be laundry (yuck!) But I need to do it and to hang it all up. (work in a store where rehanging cloths is part of your job for 6 hours out of the day and you'd hate it even more too) Last night I did try putting my twilight costume together. I'm not sure what I think of it yet, part of me says not bad considering I'm a) a girl b) a brunette and c) chubby. The other half thinks I look more like the albino in The Princess Bride.
While I had the make-up on I thought it would be fun to see if I'd make a good Esme (my hair was on it's last leg though so it doesn't look great. would you like to see? This was just a test run so no decisions have been made yet But I'd love to know what you (honestly) think.

re-post from my LJ

Mostly for my swap partner in case she's trying to learn more about me, or or those cool cats who find this from Raverly ;)

I really should update more often, but at least nobody else really is either. I've just been doing the same old same old. My mom's had this last week off from work so it's been nice to have someone around the house. She's mostly been trying to clean up the downstairs which has been a mess from taking everything out of the upstairs for the new carpet. I financial aid got my room back to being a bit more "me". I've got more pictures and posters up. I really need to clean again it's gotten cluttered with laundry and coke cans (no I don't have a drinking problem why do you ask? *shoves empty cans under desk*) I’ve also got everything in for my financial aid. I can't believe the summer is almost up. Squee this time next year I'll be a free women! Probably the most exciting thing going on for me right now is a Knitting Swap I signed up for. It’s kind of like a secret Santa except with yarn. This one is a Twilight themed swap. I've just gotten my partners name and details and I've started making her stuff. (We have to make them stitch markers, a bag, and give them yarn and a pattern and any other goodies we might want to throw in as well as email them) It's been a lot of fun so far. (Ya I know you guys probably think it sounds boring) I've made her stitch markers and they turned out really nice.

Sigh to be honest this post is really just to distract me from the cupcakes downstairs, and it's not working. I went to the store with the intent to get stamps so that I can finally mail the letter I wrote to Ruthanne (last week) but I went to the store and came out without stamps but with 3 one liter bottles of diet coke and pre-sliced cupcakes *hangs head in shame*

Oh I almost forgot until I chose my icon :) I've now got all of the Vicar Of Dibley episodes! Hee anyone want to have a marathon?

I need a better brain

Sigh, I have new respect for knit designers. I've been trying to figure out a way to turn the rod of Aesculapius into a cable that could be used on socks. (I thought it would be a neat cable for a Dr Cullen Sock.) The rod and maybe a knit heart in between each since he is both a doctor and compassionate. But I just can't get my mind wrapped around how to do it. I think I'll just give up on the idea though, I'm not cleaver enough to think of how to to it.
Other then that I haven't done much today, it was nice :) I went shopping with my mom , I was very tempted by a very inexpensive set of Are you Being served? I may yet cave and go and buy it, I don't think I'll see it that cheap again.

I'm really looking forward to the Twilight swap I'm dying to start buying things for it. I hope who ever I get doesn't mind if I sew their bag, i think I would do a better job with a sewn one then trying to knit. (I don't think I could get a knit one finished in time!)

Anyway I'm going to go get a bit of ginger bread and a shower, i may update some more after, although i don't know what about. Maybe a meme of some sort.

Happy Cat!

Ok just a quick update while I avoid cleaning. The last episode of Doctor Who was amazing. I think Ron Weasley said it best: You're going to suffer, but you'll be happy about it. I won't say anything else though because it hasn't aired in the US yet and no one wants to be spoiled for this episode trust me!

I did get into the Swap! And on the Coven side! Squee I can't wait I had great plans if I had ended up on the pack side but thats ok I'll just make that stuff for me and equally cool stuff for my swap buddy! Squeee I can't wait to get started! might go shopping later to gather little things .

Independence day was lovely My mom made enough food to feed the US Navy (there where only me, my my my step dad and my friend Luthienpotter.) After we ate Luthien and I went to the mall to watch the fireworks and walk around a bit. I promised her i would read watch (without stalling or being difficult) anything she wanted me to if she would at least read the first Twilight book (I need someone to squee with and I don't really want to go alone to the release party) So since my mom and stepfather are reading my copy we went and bought her a copy. We grabbed a fantastic seat for the fireworks and spent the evening knitting and sewing while listening to music. I'm almost done with the cuff to the second sock, I think i have a case of SSS. But I will be good and finish it! I will! Then it's back to lace work. OK I should be getting ready to go to work, rather then waiting to see if I'll get into the Twilight Swap and wondering what will happen tonight on Doctor Who.

Knitting in the Twilight, but not really

hello everyone, To be honest I haven't knit anything in the the last few days, I know I know, for shame! I've been trying to clean my room... ya not much success in that department either... and well I've gotten rapped up in a new book series Twilight. I'm loving the books so far I just finished the second one last night and I'll start the third one today. The forth book comes out at the beginning of August and there will be release parties for it. Hee I'm excited, I plan to go in Costume. I thought about going as Bella just because it would be fun to be pretty, but I really think I'd rather go as my (so far) favorite character Dr. Carlisile Cullen. although he's blond so I'll have to get a wig For me costuming has always been more about getting to be my favorite characters then being the one I look like. (with the exception of Frodo because his costumes was the easiest to make from Goodwill clothes) But anyway, I'm going to go and put pictures back on my walls , then I'll let myself read and knit some more.

Hugs!
TTFN

Ok I'm on a roll! I've just finished sock one, now on to sock two! I think this is the first time I'm feeling second sock syndrom as I'm not running to cast number two on. These had a lot of dye when i blocked them and it changed the lovely cream color to a gray. They are still veru pretty though and my desire to be able to wear them will make me finsh number two quickly. I think I'll cast on (again) for the Branching out scarf an thne maybe the market bag. Just to give sock a bit of a rest. Of course I may just do all of them and a another set of socks. I have the ball of yarn Ruthanne gave me from England. It's Hummingbird yarn in the color way called Kingfisher. The I have some Regia and Opal sock yarn I just bought. So much yarn so little time. Anyway once again I'm offering crapy pictures from my web camera. I wish I had a real digital camera. It's so my list of things to buy. Anlong with a dress Form, and new computer, I can't wait till I have a better job!

I've since started on yet another pair of socks and I love them so far. I've also bought more sock yarn (I can't be stopped!) I've just got to finish decreasing on the toe and then sew the ends....and then start on the next one. And of course me being me I'll try and make them match :) Sorry about the bad pictures. I sware that one day I'll get a real camera

Finished

Finished just as Turkey scored in overtime. I'll wear them on Saturday for Worldwide Knit in Public Day along with my new FFF shirt.

Sunday, June 8, 2008

Meh I'm sorry it's been so long between posts, not that anyone reads this but I'm still sorry. I've since ripped the lace because I decided I'd prefer it in a sold color rather then the multicolored i was using and if I'm going to make it I want it to be right the first time. I still love the pattern though I'll probably bring it with me to Knit in Public day. I've almost finish3d with my first pair of socks just five more inches to go on the foot and blocking. The I'll start on my Severus Socks. Squee!

I'm getting new carpet very soon so I'll have to unplug the computer. I took the opportunity to paint the walls in my bedroom and clean the room out, now I just need the carpet in to complete it and things can get back to normal.

Oh and the Euro 2008 Started this Weekend so I have to say: Allez les bleus Allez!

picture time

It'll look better when it's blocked, but not bad for my first try at lace huh?

Friday, May 9, 2008

Ok just reposting what I just wrote in my LJ, some of the info may be redudent from yesterdays post here because I haven't ever just posted the same same things to both sites but the short of it is New Project!

Ok I'm just taking a small moment to do a yarn Squee!

I've gotten sick of the Rose gloves, they've got mistakes in them I'll need to rip out a good portion (my mother says I'm a bit picky but if we don't have standeres then what's left?) So the gloves are going to be on hold for awhile (long enough for me not to want to puncture my eyes with DPN's.)

So I've started This: http://www.knitty.com/issuespring05/PATTbranchingout.html

My first Lace project. IT IS SO COOL! I feel smart, I feel like Knitter and just a knitter. I'm using this yarn
http://www.patonsyarns.com/product.php?LGC=grace&SPP=999
in a color called lavender. I've had it in the stash forever and when I saw that it was the right type and weight for this pattern I had to make it.

After a few miss steps and a very handy life line I've completed the first pattern repeat and, i have to say it again, It is SO COOL!

Sorry , but the cats were not excited enough when i showed them so You all have to pick up the slack by hearing me talk about it :)

I'll post some bad web cam pictures soon!

Sad but true

I'm thinking of frogging the rose gloves, if not all the the way then most of the way. Perhaps I'm being too nit picky, but I have a small mistake where i knit instead of purled on two stitches (I could live with that one) At some point I made one of the cables too small (or large) and now the sides don't match up and there is a bit of laddering going on that is driving me crazy. But because I've started and restated these gloves so many times I'm a bit sick of them to tell the truth so it would be a while before I would try them again... So what to do in the mean time? I'd like to use some of the sock yarn I've got and.... imagine this... make socks.

hmmm Still need to think about it

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Greetings!
I'm being very good and still only working on one knitting project, The Rose gloves. Go me! I'm almost to the thumb gusset and both excited and worried about it. the first attempt i made at doing them (almost a year ago) is were I went wrong last time, so I'm hoping it'll be better this time. After the rose gloves I've got to bring something with me to Media West con, maybe two somethings, one for the car and one for the SnB at the con. or it may just be one project. Who knows?

Anyway I'm mostly posting just to keep this blog updated a bit my more personal blog is over on LJ, which is friends locked because I'm avoiding someone who has me as a friend on there, maybe it doesn't matter now, but the journal will stay that way. But anyway you're only here for the pretty yarn right?

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Making very good progress on the rose gloves so far. I'm actually on the second diamond but I don't feel like re-taking pictures. I've found it best if i work on these without any distractions like Tv or people because when I add those in the stupid mistakes happen. I'm trying to be good and only work on one project at a time, I'm using the Ravelry queue as my nice to do list. I've found projects for almost all of my important stashed yarn. I may allow myself to make a few wash cloths for gifts that I'd want to give as gifts very soon .

Next Please

Happiness! I'm now on Ravelry as SeverusSnape. It is like the mecca of knitting! So many patterns! Although I feel like a knitter and not Knitter there but I shall aim to become better a be one of the really cool people and less muggle.

For my birthday I went and bought myself yarn as a present: Two balls of Lion brand Wool ease Worsted weight in 139 dark rose heather which will be used to make The Rose Doomsday Gloves from Doctor Who. Pattern Here. And Two balls of Patons Decor First Spring Varg for purposes not yet decided on, mostly I just loved the color way. I've cast on for the Rose gloves a few times but I seem to have a mental block with them as I keep making mistakes early on. the thing is though Is I've made one of the gloves before in a different yarn (caron simply soft) and while the color was perfect the yarn drove me nuts with all it's splitting. (that and I didn't do the thumb gusset very well) But I will get through them I am determined that I make these gloves!
Oh also for my birthday I bought myself dpn's sizes 6, 7, and 8 yay!

Saturday, April 26, 2008

I did in fact finish the quilt in time and I got one of those disposable digital cameras to take pictures with so as soon as I take the camera to be developed I'll post the better pictures until then I give you the bad picture from my web cam, please ignore the mess in my room It wasabout 2am after I had gotten home from work and I really didn't feel like cleaning up to take the picture.

Saturday, April 12, 2008

Ok so I want to show off

I'm currently making a Quilt, which I should be working on now instead of blogging. The Quilt is for a baby boy, the shower is on the 20th of April I hope I make it in time! I need to add another row of three blocks the boarder and of course the back. Those will be in blue 9the same blue on the front. Once again note that the colors captured on my web cam are not very close to what they are in reality. The colors are all bright primary colors The green has vines in the pattern, the blue kind of splochy and wavey, the yellow has , well almost a chicken foot pattern in it and the red has dotted circles. Originaly I was going for earthly elements sun, fire, water, earth, but it's been pointed out that i also managed to pick the four Hogwarts houses. Anyway, since I have to keep the project under raps until the 20th I've been limited on who I can show it to hence the desire to post it here with the knitting (none of my friends know about this journal, this just for those who happen to wonder by)

It's finished!

I hadn't meant to abandon this blog, I haven't been writing in my LJ much either since life at school and work has been busy. I have finished my Irish Hiking scarf though, mostly because I worked on it tons when I went to see the Yarn Harlots book signing. I've posted pictures in the knit along blog but I'll post them again here just because. Oh and my web cam really doesn't take very good pictures the colors are all washed out and you can't see any detail, I'll post some better ones if my friend lets me use her camera.

Monday, January 21, 2008

Oooo lucky new post, to be honest I haven't been doing alot of knitting this winter I've gotten a job along with school and so really I've only got time for sleep school work and work work. But I have made some progress on the hiking scarf I've done about 30 reps total and I estimate I'll need about 55 or so to make the scarf as long as I want it to be (I hope I'll have enough yarn!) I also picked up a knitting kit that reminded me of the book Le Petit Prince. The little prince asks the aviator to draw him a sheep , and this kit is a knit your own sheep kit. Maybe it only makes sense to me. I can't wait to get started on the little sheep, I only hope they don't become cat toys!
